As Northumberland is a mostly rural county, it’s an incredible place to visit to look out over views of rolling hills and forests or to take in the sights of frolicking animals. One popular destination for walkers and people looking for a pleasant day out is The Alnwick Garden, as its variety of features, from ornamental gardens and treehouses to water displays and first-rate restaurants (one of which also happen to be set in a treehouse), means that there’s something for all of the family to enjoy.

Other top spots are the enormous Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water and Forest Park, particularly as they enjoy no light pollution, allowing for a perfect stargazing experience over the night sky. As it’s said that the vast majority of the population of England have never seen a truly dark sky, it can be an impressive sight to behold.
