Chelsea is a district in London, known as being an affluent area. This can be demonstrated by the politics of the area; the borough of Kensington & Chelsea is one of the safest Conservative Party seats in the UK. Reality series Made in Chelsea is set in the area and often shows cast members by the River Thames, which creates the districts southern border.
King’s Road is the main avenue in Chelsea, and contains numerous high market shops – it is regarded as one of the most influential fashion streets in London. The thoroughfare also boasts unique eateries such as The Jam Tree, which showcases the best dishes of the British Colonies including Canada, India, Malaysia and South Africa. An alternative great place to eat is the US themed Honky Tonk, that serves American dishes but with locally sourced ingredients.
The area is famed for The Chelsea Flower Show, also known as the Great Spring Show, which is run by the Royal Horticultural Society and held each year in May.
Chelsea also has a renowned football team known as Chelsea F.C; however the club’s home stadium, Stamford Bridge, is actually in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
