York Food & Drink Festival will return for its 20th year this September, from the 23rd right through to the 2nd Oct. This popular event will return with the usual line-up of large markets, chef demonstrations and a cookery school, but will also include an extensive programme of events based on the festival theme of  ‘Food in Words and Pictures.’

Visitors will have the chance to sample the finest wares from local and national suppliers with fabulous tastings, ranging from savoury snacks to sweet treats – York Brewery will even be in attendance for beer tasting.

There will be plenty to keep children entertained, with a fun-filled junior chef competition and other activities planned over the course of the festival. History fans young and old will adore the JORVIK centre’s inclusion of a Richard III experience banquet, set right in the atmospheric heart of this medieval city. Even if historical feasting isn’t your thing, you’ll still be spoilt for choice of fun things to do. Who could resist the Chocolate City Chocolate Fair at The Guildhall? It’s a sweet-tooth’s dream, and an event not to be missed.

Partake in a spot of globe-trotting thanks to the series of feasts from around the world – the Vietnamese feast, focusing on fabulous food from Hanoi, is set to be extraordinary.
