Taste of Grampian

You've missed this event
Where will you find the finest smoked salmon, the creamiest fudge, the most mouth watering shortbread and drams of the best whisky? In Scotland, of course, and more specifically at the Taste of Grampian in Inverurie. This annual event is now in it's 18th year and always draws a crowd as the festival programme is simply packed with everything you could ever want from a food festival. There's a hot line-up of chef's this year as The Incredible Spice Men Cyrus Todiwala OBE and Tony Singh headline the chef demonstrations. It's hard to believe this event is free! Start the day by heading to the main arena, where over 70 traders will be displaying their foodie treats for you to taste, sample and enjoy – and it’s where the celebrity chefs will be hanging out. You might get distracted here, so remember to quench your thirst at Brewfest (back by popular demand)... think gin, rum, beer, ale, cider, wines and the much anticipated whisky all under one marquee with a delightful beer garden in which to relax. In fact, it’s probably here that I’ll get side-tracked, especially if the weather is fine. Pair these fab drinks with food from the street food market and you have a relaxing day of indulgent bliss. If, however, you are buzzing to see the chefs and get stuck into the hands-on aspects, make sure you grab a ticket to one (or two, or three) of the chef’s demonstrations. They’re only a fiver each, so well worth it and you might even get to see Leith-born Tony Singh's legendary "haggis pakora". New for this year there is also Braehead outdoor cooking arena which will also feature BBQ cooking workshops from Weber. If you’ve visited this festival before you’ll know how well the seafood goes down too. Cue a whole marquee dedicated to the finest, freshest seafood you’ll find. That’s not all, there is set to be buskers, kid’s entertainment, crafts, comedy and contortionists. Yep, it’s going to be one hell of a day!
