Newquay Fish Festival
Friday September 08 2017to Sunday September 10 2017
You've missed this event
Back in 2003, a small committee came up with the idea of holding an annual food festival to celebrate the range of fantastic fish that the fishermen of Newquay bring in every year. Since that original brainwave was realised, the Newquay Fish Festival has grown from strength to strength.
Newquay Fish festival is now in its 13th year, and the locals have grown to enjoy the attention of the visitors from across the country. The event aims to introduce people to and educate them on fishing practices and the fantastic flavours of truly fresh seafood. The highlight of the festival has to be the practical packed schedule of cookery demonstrations by local chefs, while hotels and restaurants across the town open their doors to offer special seafood dishes and deals in conjunction with the festival.
You can also learn how to fly fish, watch some sword fighting, or listen to tales from the local fishermen. There are plenty of children’s activities, in particular an exciting sand castle competition. There will be live music throughout the weekend and each evening they’re throwing a fantastic party to mark the end of another successful day, so whether it be pirates and motown on the Friday or Fish & Chips with a bit of swing music on Saturday, it’s sure to be a fin weekend for all.
