Record-breaking crowds turned up to last year’s one-day Moreton-in-Marsh Show – around 25,000 people, to be exact – and records weren’t only broken on the gate but at the trade stands too, with more traders than ever selling everything from combine harvesters to handmade homewares. So you definitely don’t want to miss out on this year’s event, which is set to impress the huge number of visitors to this classic country show once more with its varied programme of competitions, livestock, show-jumping, dog shows, stalls and family fun.
The Grand Arena is where much of the action happens – previous attractions have included displays from the Bolddog Freestyle Motorcross Team and the Bluebell Majorettes from Swindon – but that’s far from where the fun ends. There’s also livestock, horse-jumping and showing rings, a home and garden marquee with some amazing culinary skills on show, and live music playing at the bandstand. Foodies will no doubt head straight to the Country Larder Food Hall, where specialist food producers will be offering tasters and selling their top-quality produce. If you’ve got the little ones in tow, they’ll love the family fun area where children can participate in circus skills, dance and performing arts workshops.
All in all, this is one of the best examples of a country show you’re likely to find. Watch out for other events such as the ploughing match in September and farm, crop and allotment competitions too.
