You've missed this event
The town of Mold in Flintshire, north Wales, has some debate surrounding the origin of its name – it’s either from the old Norman-French for ‘high-hill’, or from the surname of Robert de Montalt, dating back to the 12th Century, or even earlier. Either way, the name bears no reflection whatsoever on the town’s food festival so get off your high-hill horse and check out what north Wales has to offer.
The festival showcases over 140 producers, farmers and retailers, giving demonstrations, workshops, samples, and of course, selling the very best local produce for you to savour. There will be demonstrations by celebrity chefs as well as top-tier local chefs, these will be announced shortly, but judging by last year there will be some pretty big names. There will be live music throughout the weekend and a full schedule of children’s activities including the return of the massively popular cookery school and food science lab – perfect for budding chefs and food enthusiasts!
You will be spoilt for choice in the open-air food court with an array of tempting cuisine to try ranging from local specialities to street food dishes inspired from around the world. There’s plenty on offer to wash it all down with too including local ciders, beers, craft ales, wines, Welsh liqueurs and spirits.
Last year the event attracted over 13,500 visitors across the weekend and this year, with plans underway for another fantastic line up of top chef demonstrations on the menu and much more, this family-friendly festival is set to be equally as popular.
John Les Tomos, Festival Chairman says: “Our twelfth festival will be a fantastic event. It’s shaping up to be the biggest to date with a packed programme of events and a variety of new features for visitors to experience too. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to an amazing foodie weekend!”
