Artisan Cheese Fair
Saturday May 05 2018to Sunday May 06 2018
You've missed this event
With around 70 artisan cheesemakers and 300 cheeses expected from Britain and Ireland, the Artisan Cheese Fair is the UK’s largest dedicated cheese fair. All undercover, talks and tastings as well as pies, cider, cakes etc compliment the cheese.. And what better place for a cheese fair than at a cattle market? You won’t find any live milkings or churnings but around 70 cheesemakers who, between them, can boast of producing over 300 delicious cheeses. There’s sure to be a flavour you’ve never discovered or a rare variety you have been searching for available to taste and purchase here. If you fancy, you can join one of the tutored tastings and either learn more about your favourite cheese or else discover the delights of cheeses you’ve never even heard of. Some of us will be quite content will filling our stomachs with barrel loads of beautiful cheese but if you crave something to pair it with – the fair will have it all, from chutneys to wines, ales and cakes, cider and of course some of those famous pork pies. A nice touch, everything you find here will have been sourced and produced in our very own British Isles. Apart from the main event of perusing, choosing and tasting as much cheese as possible there will also be a whole host of talks including “Cooking with Cheese”, a “Beginners Guide to Cheese” and “How to Make Your Own Cheese”. Adding to the jovial spirit of the day there will be a range of entertainment on offer such as the Melstrum Ukelele Band and some Morris dancing. Without further ado, any lover of cheese whether it be soft or mature, nutty or sweet, strong or mild cannot miss the Artisan Cheese Fair. It’s one of the best in the country and there will be more food, drink and activities than you can ever want over the course of this wonderful weekend in Melton Mowbray.
