Trader of the Week – The Tipsy Tart

As we wandered around the bustling Ludlow Food Festival, we couldn’t help but be transfixed by a sign reading The Tipsy Tart. Immediately drawn to the alliteration, the double entendre and the overall light-hearted attitude that the stall was exuding before we’d even approached, it was difficult to stay away.

Named dually for the delicious South African sponge pudding which owner Elizabeth Grinker has spent a lifetime adoring (which in turn is named for its alcoholic syrup) and also for Elizabeth herself who is a lover of a good tipple, the business sells a variety of delectable alcoholic liqueurs. The range has also recently extended into clothing with items such as aprons, t-shirts and shopping bags available for purchase along with their classic and ever-popular liqueurs.

The Tipsy Tart possesses humble beginnings, originally being a way of creating homemade gifts for friends and family, and taking off after an abundance of praise and a demand for more liqueurs. Elizabeth began experimenting with flavours, purchased a range of snazzy bottles and a short time later, The Tipsy Tart became a fully-blown business. Despite its youth, The Tipsy Tart has already received a handful of accolades, including their white and dark chocolate vodka being awarded a Diamond award by the Heart of England Fine Foods.

Fully dedicated to The Tipsy Tart, Elizabeth is always dreaming up new concoctions and has dedicated a portion of her website to tips for making the most out of the liqueurs, in addition to a number of cocktails which can be created using The Tipsy Tart products.

If you’re looking to sample some of The Tipsy Tart’s products for yourself, they can be found at local weekly markets, a select group of cocktail and wine bars, and festivals such as the unique Victorian Christmas Market at Gloucester Quays and the Malvern Autumn Show
